As I’ve said elsewhere ( https://medium.com/@micheleleavitt/not-far-from-the-tree-the-curse-of-the-adopted-cc3c7b6c0cfc?source=linkShare-63acb3a735ec-1525217047) the curse of adopted people is that everything they do right is credited to their adoptive environment, and everything they do wrong is blamed on their genetics.

The original story of this “return” smacked of that for me. It’s a cheap way out for adoptive parents who refuse to take responsibility.
