While it’s true that the original purpose of the Displaced Homemakers programs was to help displaced women, all of these programs that receive federal funding are also open to men. This is because the Federal government mandates that any program receiving even a tiny bit of Federal money must be open to people of all genders, ages, races, abilities, religions.
If you or someone you know needs help with job training, community colleges are a great place to start. Many have grant support available or offer free resources.
Another free retraining program is AARP’s BACK TO WORK 50+initiative. While it’s targeted to people over 50, because the program receives federal funding it’s open to people of all ages.
