Oh, the paradox! I love a good paradox. Literature would have a hard time making itself memorable without them.
Thank you for reminding me of Graves. I read the memoir approximately 12,000 years ago. Well, maybe not that long ago, but it seems like it. Also read lots of his poetry and criticism, especially the mythic stuff like The White Goddess. He was a truly original thinker.
A couple of years ago, it seemed like every novel I read was set in Great Britain at least in part during WWI. Life After Life and A God in Ruins, both by Kate Atkinson, for example.
