Rituals have helped me let go of obsessions and move on. For example, tearing up letters and burning them or tossing them in the ocean. Or writing down what I want to let go of and then burying it, and asking that energy to sprout into something positive. It helps me have a physical sense of closure.
That doesn’t mean I won’t still (as others commenting here have noted) experience mistrust based on past experiences, but it has helped me stop obsessing. Hmmmm…that job I left a few months ago? Maybe that needs a quick ritual of release!
