Thanks for responding, Adam! When I last taught business writing, 7 years ago, the guidelines called for less than 16 words per sentence, and less than 6 sentences per paragraph. One reason for that was to appeal to a wide range of reading abilities; another was to help the writer achieve conciseness in the sentences and insure that paragraphs covered only one topic.

In creative writing, though, I think all rules are off!
