Thanks for writing this, Danilo. I admire your skill in communicating a very complex idea and staying judgment-free. While I have little sympathy for men in general (but plenty for the individual ones I love), I agree that men in general are hamstrung by gender expectations, often to their emotional and spiritual detriment. The goal of feminism in the 1970’s was to free everyone from gender expectations. We didn’t succeed.

I see hope in the millennial generation, where many men seem kinder, gentler, more empathetic, more vulnerable and less attached to macho identity than men of previous generations.
