Incarceration is a tremendous waste of money and people, except for the most violent offenders. IMHO, of course. In America, we demonize drug and alcohol addicts and lock them up instead of treating them, like we locked up people with mental illness not so long ago. By some estimates, 80% of criminal cases here are drug or alcohol related. Probably my next topic.
