What a perfect example! And so heartbreaking, too.

Orwell was one of the greats. I can’t think of a writer working today who is as fluent in fiction as in the essay form, and in a third form, like memoir or poetry. But maybe I’m not thinking hard enough. Your man Graves was one of those tri-dextrous writers, too.
